Why aren’t you sociable?

I don’t do social media. So, I’m not actually an international spy requiring a low profile online. I’m just a tired human being who realised how bad for me social media had become. I also re-read Jaron Lanier’s eye-opening book 10 Arguments for Deleting Your Social Media Accounts Right Now. I do miss some aspects of it. Linkedin gave me some great leads on authors and connected me to some fabulously interesting people in publishing. Facebook permitted me to openly stalk my husband and discover his deepest memes. Twitter (I left before it became X) allowed me to connect with some great authors such as Sarah Perry and Marian Keyes. And Instagram showed me pictures of how beautiful life could be. However, like a lot of creatives, I find that if I am active on social media, I dilute the thoughts and creativity that I could channel into my work. So I no longer do it.

If you receive a request from me to follow or connect on any social media at all, know it isn’t me and report it. Thanking you kindly.

If you want to have my undiluted thoughts in your psychic space, sign up to my newsletter – Field Notes from a Supernaturalist. I am lazy so you won’t get loads of emails, just an erratic monthly shuffle from me in your inbox and you can always gently usher me out by unsubscribing at any time.

NB: I don’t judge other people for using social media though so if you want to share any of my features on your socials, there are links on the side for you to use (though not X cos Space Karen can do one).
